Happy Friday! Today I am so excited to welcome Claire from Claireabellemakes who is bringing you a gorgeous DIY...

Hi guys! I’m really excited to be here today to share a jewellery DIY. I came across Amy’s blog when she followed mine and we instantly connected over our love for crafts and agreed to share posts on each other’s blogs. So here we go with my marbled clay jewellery DIY!

This marbled clay bead bracelet is super simple for jewellery beginners. Here’s what you will need to get started:

· Polymer clay in two colours
· Jewellery chain
· Eyepin
· Jump rings
· Lobster clasp
· Cocktail stick or pin
· Jewellery pliers

Picture
Take a small piece of clay from each colour and soften in your hands. Work the two colours together pressing the colours into each other until it begins to create a marbled look.

Take 3 small pieces of the marbled clay and roll into small balls. These will become your beads. Try to make them all the same size. Take your cocktail stick or pin and make a hole through the balls to create the bead hole. Place the beads on a baking tray and bake in the oven according to the instructions on the clay packet. My beads took 15 minutes at 130 degrees Celsius.

Whilst your clay is baking and cooling, prepare your jewellery findings. You will need to cut two pieces of chain measuring approximately 7-8cm each.

Attach a jump ring, lobster clasp and eye pin to one piece of the chain as show below. I like this You Tube channel to learn basic jewellery making techniques like opening and closing jump rings.

Attach a jump ring to one end of the other chain piece.

Now your beads have cooled, thread them onto the eye pin using the holes you made.

Using round nose jewellery pliers, make a loop on the exposed end of the eye pin attaching the other piece of chain before the loop is fully closed.

Close your clasp and your bracelet is ready!

I also love the idea of using the marbled clay technique for different jewellery pieces. I used it to make a necklace using longer chain and a cabochon for a marbled pendant.

What a lovely idea - I especially love the splash of colour from the pink and the marble effect, how original! The paper clip ear rings are the perfect piece of party jewellery too, and will make a bold statement teamed with a cocktail dress. Thanks for sharing!
